Adaptive Fitness Partnership Program (Hale SSYMCA)

Adaptive Fitness Partnership Volunteer Help individuals with physical disabilities participate in exercise and wellness activities in a supportive, inclusive environment. Volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups alongside YMCA staff to encourage participation, build confidence, and promote independence. Responsibilities may include: Assisting participants during fitness activities on the wellness floor Providing encouragement, motivation, and social support Supporting participants during aquatic exercise and pool-based activities Helping participants safely navigate equipment and exercise spaces Assisting YMCA staff with program setup and cleanup Creating a welcoming and inclusive experience for all participants No fitness experience is required. Volunteers should be patient, dependable, and comfortable interacting with individuals of varying abilities. Training and ongoing support will be provided by YMCA staff. Commitment: Flexible based on volunteer availability and program schedule. Impact: Help individuals with disabilities improve their health, confidence, independence, and connection to the community through exercise and wellness programming.
